I Chiacchieroni - Italian Language Conversation Group

Attention Lovers of Italian! The Italian club "I Ciceroni" will start meeting on the first Wednesday of September. First, a note about the name. It is common knowledge that Cicerone, (Latin : Cicero), was a famous Roman orator. As per the Italian dictionary ," Lo Zingarelli", a cicerone is a person who knows how to talk well (even to the point of being annoying). Another meaning for the word cicerone is tour guide,guida turistica. Implied in the name is the purpose of the club: being able to speak and continue to speak Italian well. The monthly meeting of the "I Ciceroni", will gather those who have an interest to learn and or practice the Italian language . The meeting will take place once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month, at 7:00 PM, at Pompei Restaurant, in Oak Park/River Forest, at the corner of Harlem Ave and Lake Street, where everyone can order and pay, individually, for his/her own meal, sit at a nearby table, and have a friendly, informal conversation, in Italian, with his fellow diners.Please notice that the time has been changed to 7:00 PM so that the restaurant will be less crowded. There will be no fees for belonging to the club. Conversation can be any topic. If you are more comfortable reading, and/or if you like to read something, bring your Italian notes which you can share with you neighbor.
